A new study showed on Friday that India is in the leading country with the highest presence of social entrepreneurs. With improving the lives of more than 62 million people in 190 countries,  the Social entrepreneurs working with the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship have distributed $6.7 billion in loans or value of products and services.
Not only this, they have helped the mitigation of 192 Million tonnes of CO2 and enhancing education for millions of children.
A reporter remarked, "The community has distributed more than $6.7 billion to projects and products that have enhanced livelihoods, including increasing healthcare access, providing clean energy solutions, and improving education outcomes,"
Hilde Schwab, the Co-founder and Chairperson of the Foundation said that this report impugns the idea that models of social innovation can be dismissed as petite island of success amidst our global challenges.
The social entrepreneurs operate in more than 190 countries, 25 percent of them reach 90 countries each. India being the topmost country in the list, has 46 social entrepreneurs. US being the second with 40, 34 in Kenya 29,  in Brazil and 26 each in South Africa and Uganda.
This foundation goes back 20 years when it was established for the support of unrecognized business models for environmental welfare.
"Social innovators have pioneered sustainable approaches and inclusive business models, and serve as a clear demonstration that models of stakeholder capitalism can indeed work," said Klaus Schwab, the WEF Founder and Executive Chairman. Within the World Economic Forum, the foundation is all about providing exposure and developing a group of trusting Social change leaders.
