In 2014, Delhi University’s alumni along with Ministry Of Medium, Small & Micro Enterprises (MSME) came up with Technology Business Incubator (DUCIC-TBI) at Cluster Innovation (CIC) Centre for budding entrepreneurs who are toiling day and night for their dream project. The main objective of this initiative is to foster innovation driven entrepreneurship among students. It aims to acquaint students with the Startup Ecosytem of the country and the its & bits of being an entrepreneur. DUCIC offers electives, certificates courses, workshops and design camps with the objectives of infusing design-based learning.
Hello Meal, based in Vijay Nagar , an app based food delivery service found and run by alumni of Swami Shraddhanand College gets some assistance from DU in terms of promotion and financial aid. Lithics,an online portal for handmade and indigenous products, credits Delhi Universtiy’s Incubation centers for providing them with amazing infrastructure and right guidance. Similarly, there are plenty of other success stories coming out of university's incubation centers.
However, it is believed that investing time and resources into advancing amateur, college-level start-ups is risky as Start-ups fail many times, even after a series of funding. The Manager of DUCIC-TBI refuting such notions claims that their main objective is to nurture their innovative ideas and the rest depends on the entrepreneurial skills of the promoters of the start-up.
