Global Vexation May End Up Questioning China's Victimized Face

By David Lodhi
China, as always is trying to hide the actual number of death in their own country and there's nothing new if they are projecting wrong stats. Noticeably, there were not many cases in big cities of China so it's quite hard to believe that Wuhan was not having any contact with "big cities". Moreover Shenzhen, the manufacturing hub of China was not much affected. The dimensions of loss can be prognosticated by the action taken by USA, they didn't announce national lockdown, though they applied strict rules and lockdown in some states and asked people to stay home. USA without caring much about people, tried to save their economy as a nationwide lockdown will terribly hit it and at a time when china has already started to get back towards market, it's hard for USA to shut manufacturing units. However, it will be no surprise if countries like ITALY, USA, SPAIN, FRANCE and INDIA come up with the urge to confine trade with CHINA, US president Trump has showed some signs as well.
The lockdown in China has undoubtedly affected the whole world and it's quite inequitable to compare it with the previously spread SARS virus because at that time china only had 4% share in global GDP which is now 16% so for sure, there will be issues in global trade and supply chains.
The relief funds may not be enough for people around because there are a lot of people who couldn't work from home and their earning has come to a halt because most of the private firms are willing to cut-off their employees or they won't be paying them if their work can't be done from home. Government may try hard to get this fixed but the game of some private firms is beyond all this. It's really significant for the government to keep an eye on the industries which can run with some restrictions and maintaining supply chains because some consequential sectors must do manufacturing of goods to satisfy daily need of the people. Food industry should get priority.
Now considering the proliferation in demand of Hydroxychloroquine, the Indian government can gain a lot of good will and soft power for future which it already is doing by increasing the rate of manufacturing and allowing more workers for the industries in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN), which is the largest pharmaceutical hub in Asia.
From selling nearly 4 billion masks in a month to boosting mask production capacity by 450%, China may be trying to "play" on a safe side.

Significance of the “Developed Country” Tag for India

By Xeena Mehta The officials of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) uphold a list of countries that categorises countries as “developing”, “developed”, and “least-developed”. Countries that are classified as “developing” have permissions to export certain goods to the U.S. without being hit by heavy legal tariffs that are bind to be imposed on goods from “developed” countries. The “developing country” tag was originated by U.S. Trade Act of 1974, to aid poor countries develop faster. World Trade Organization also acceded to grant trade benefits to countries that were classified as poor. If noticed we can see that about two-thirds of countries that are members of the WTO classify themselves as “developing” countries and avail fore deals. Any such classification of whether a country is “developing” or not is entirely objective. While the economic progress achieved by India and China have achieved over the last few decades is seen as a valid reason to get rid of their s...
