The citizens of Uttarakhand have been facing enormous difficulties since there has been a massive flooding in the Chamoli district following a glacier breach.Over 30 deaths have been reported and approximately 200 people are missing.
Apart from the gigantic loss to the local businesses and the residents, the flood also affected the livestock as at least 5 locals including shepherds along with 180 sheeps and goats have been swept away as informed by the Chief Minister of the state Mr.Trivendra Singh Rawat.
The catastrophe not only hampered the local's life blood but also caused substantial economic and infrastructural wreck in the region. According to the Union Power Minister Mr.R K Singh there has been an expected damage of INR 1500 crores to the government infrastructure. The flood washed away the Border Roads Organization Bridge near Malari ahead of Joshimath Area.More than 150 labourers working at the Rishi Ganga River Project may have been directly affected informed the State Disaster Response Force DIG Mr.Ridhim Aggarwal. In addition to the aforesaid the Power Project at Tapovan-Reni has been completely swept away.
The state of Uttarakhand being a hill station earned its major revenue from tourism and other related activities which have also been impeded leaving the people in no hope of a reliable income for atleast an year or two to come.
Until now 20 crore has been released by the CM of the state from the State Disaster Response Fund for relief and rescue operations. Also a compensation of Rupees 4 lakhs has been announced by him as financial assistance to the families of the deceased. In addition to this Mr. Manoharlal Khattar the Chief Minister of Haryana has provided a financial aid of Rupees 11 Crores in the wake of the glacier tragedy in the hill state.
Hoping for a speedy recovery of all the people affected and the economy of the state.
