Flipkart , Niti aayog to strengthen the platform for women entrepreneurs

In an effort to enhance the community experience for women entrepreneurs in India, NITI Aayog and Flipkart, have collaborated to launch the revamped Women Entrepreneurship Platform. The Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) is a unified access portal which brings together women from different parts of India to realise their entrepreneurial potential.


Although we worship Goddesses in India, traditionally a woman is expected to remain at home and take responsibility of household chores. Because of this traditional mindset, women do not have freedom to follow their dreams, let alone the resources. WEP will help free women from the shackles of traditional thinking by encouraging them to follow their entrepreneurial aspirations and also providing them with necessary resources on one hand and on the other, it will give us the important lesson that household chores are the responsibility of both the male and the female. Apart from this, it also helps women solve their queries on complex grounds such as GST, Income Tax, etc.

This initiative will definitely bring about a change in mentality and stir a mental revolution where women will not be viewed as dependent, but will have the confidence to follow their own dreams; at individual level. From the nation’s perspective, it will lead to more jobs and greater productive activities which surge our GDP. The mental revolution will also raise our female literacy.


Every great initiative always has some challenges to it. WEP too has challenges: firstly, how will the lack of proper technical knowledge be dealt with? Secondly, how will the traditional image of woman as a homemaker be changed in rural areas? Thirdly and most importantly, how will the WEP be accessible to the women in rural areas? Solutions to these challenges must be found and a woman should be at the helm of this initiative, one who inspires other women to overcome all challenges and gives wings to their dreams. For India to achieve its true magnificence, women must take the lead role. The WEP as initiative has not only quantitative benefits but also qualitative benefits, which will go a long way in making our womenfolk more self-reliant, successful entrepreneurs.
